5 Myths and truths about washing your hair after getting a perm

how long it takes to apply the dye

Have you completed a permanent one yet?

Do you want to know when you can wash your hair?

Here, I’ll tell you all you should and should not do with your hair if you have curled your hair.

We will reveal 5 legends.

  • To wash your hair after each wash, you have to wait 48 hours.
  • To wash your hair, you can use any type of shampoo.
  • Curling hair does not need any moisture other than washing the hair
  • The hair dryer can damage the curling layer
  • To brush curling hair, you can use whatever brush or comb you have on hand

Before revealing whether these myths are true or not, let me tell you a little bit about my experience.

After doing a curl, I started to feel like a ball without a leash, going from here to there, searching for information about aftercare.

It’s just that nobody wants to throw four hundred dollars and I am much less, because it took me so much to get that money together, including refusing to meet my idol, Luis Miguel, during the session. Concert.

Forgive me, Luismi, a girl who also worries about her looks.

I felt like when I was a teenager and I asked my parents some existential questions.

My dad speaks white and my mom speaks black.

Meaning I was trapped in a gray cloud, ending up with more suspicion than certainty.

The same goes for me with information about the fixed care service.

In others, no.

On some blogs I read that you can dry your hair right after washing your hair, on others they actually do the cross if you do.

But I won’t give up easily. So I kept searching and concluded that there are other myths about washing my hair after perm.

Myths are in some cases based on facts, and in others they are just myths. In mythology like Thor, Scandinavian God is as handsome as the actor Chris Hemsworth.

That is why you can stop wandering about in suspicious water. You won’t have to spend hours reading non-stop articles online and watching boring YouTube tutorials where everything always seems perfect.

That is another myth. Not all YouTube tutorials are gold. Some don’t even end with happy smiles.

Today I’m going to learn all of them and I’m ready to create or break the myth about washing my hair after curling.

Today, I invite you to leave myths to the gods and goddesses of Olympus and let’s dive into the true truth. At least all that has to do with washing your hair after getting those divine curls with the curling machine.

Should we start?

To wash your hair after curling, you have to wait 48 hours: Truth or myth?

Now, you can always do what you want.

But let me tell you this.

If you wash your hair before the first 48 hours after perm, you are simply erasing what the stylist did at the salon .

Do you know why?

As the chemicals continue to work on the inner part of the hair, that part you can’t see but still exists.

So, if you wash your hair before it is recommended, you can cause your curls to become frizzy.

But also, you will spoil the look of the curls you have chosen with your stylist.

Meaning, your perfectly defined curls can turn into a weird shape just like miki moco, remember?

I imagine so because of your rough face.

To wash your hair you can use any type of shampoo: truth or myth?

Perfect for permed hair

Great shampoo and conditioner for shampoo , see price on Amazon

What do you think?

Let’s see, let’s calm down.

If you have very light skin, to what extent do you use spf when you go to the beach? Tallest? Like spf 50 right?

Now, if you have darker skin you can use lower spf, like 30 or 40.

With your permed hair, the same thing happens. Your needs will be completely different from those you have used for straight hair.

Of course, it’s the absolute lie that you can keep using the shampoo and conditioner as always.

That’s why you have to use products specifically for curly hair, especially for washing.

After curling, you will find that your hair will always need moisture.

You will be like a astronaut in the desert looking for an oasis.

And your oasis will be a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and those specially designed for curly hair.

Because remember that any type of hair process, including perm, is fundamentally damaging to the hair.

The only way to restore damage and take care of your curls so that you can regain health is with hair care.

Curling hair does not need any moisture other than washing the hair

Legend or truth?

What do you mean truth?

Didn’t you read the previous score?

And what did we talk about there?

That your curls will be thirsty twenty-four hours a day.

That’s why you should always moisturize deeply even one or two days a week after washing your face.

Your hair suffers from protean damage when you curl it. This is because individual strands of hair break and form protein bonds that shape the curls.

To help repair this damage, it is recommended to nourish your hair with protein treatments.

Would you like to know which one I use?

After washing my hair, once a week, I apply the Olaplex restoration treatment , which restores the hair’s natural moisture and keeps it strong.

If your budget doesn’t allow it, you can always make a protein mask.

It is not difficult. You only need one egg and two cups of yogurt.

Mix this mixture well and apply to your curls, leave on for 30 minutes.

As time passes, just rinse with warm water, study in the cold direction.

A hair dryer can damage your curls

Legend or truth?

Well, I’m in a quandary, just again in my life.

Because we can say that it is neither entirely true nor entirely false.

And well, gray areas persist even for permed hair.

That’s true, because heat is the number one enemy for curly hair, as it tends to make it more frizzy.

Now, what if one day you have a meeting and after washing your hair you can’t wait for your hair to dry naturally?

On these occasions, and I emphasize this, only on these special occasions can you use a hair dryer, but with a diffuser

Do you know why?

Because a diffuser, as the name suggests, prevents you from applying heat directly to your curls. It’s as if you distributed it more evenly.

Remember that you should always blow-dry your hair from top to bottom so that the curls are not disturbed.

It is important to buy a microfiber towel to wrap your hair after wetting it. This way you will preserve the shampoo of the curls and prevent breakage.

To brush permed hair, you can use whatever comb or brush you have on hand

Legend or truth?

Tell me you’ve thrown away your old hard bristles! Is not?

Then run and do it now.

Because that is an absolute lie.

You cannot untangle wet hair with any brush.

You will need a wide tooth comb, which always starts at the ends, not the roots, to prevent knots from forming.

For sure, you will use a little hair-brushing cream for your curls .

After washing your hair and drying it with a microfiber towel, it’s time to apply this mixture.

Once the hair is dry, check it and remove the largest curls with a wide-tooth comb.

Alternatively, run your fingers through your wet hair. This will help you reactivate the products in your hair, helping to strengthen your curls.

Now, you know all the myths and the things that you shouldn’t pay attention to.

But you also know what to do after washing your hair.

And don’t wander through unknown realms of ignorance and your curls will be very grateful.

Do you know any other myths related to perms?

Can you do a perm on highlighted hair? What is Olaplex?

use olaplex in the process

Thinking of highlighting your curls?

Stop immediately!

First, you must know that if you have dyed your hair prominently today or yesterday, you should completely forget about curling it for a few days.

And when I say a few days, I don’t mean two or three. I mean 25 days. Yes, almost a month.

Because if you don’t wait that long, your hair will likely be destroyed and burned.

Even so, and always respectful of time, there is a miracle product called Olaplex.

Yes, I know that sounds familiar because the legend of Kim Kardashian, when from day to day she went from brown hair to platinum blond, not damaging even half a centimeter of her beautiful million dollar hair hers.

But did you know that Olaplex was invented to protect dyed hair during curling?

Olaplex is a simple three-step method consisting of an active ingredient that works at the subatomic level to look for weak bonds in the hair generated from synthetic heating or damage tools.

So you can apply Olaplex to repair the damage or add in another service, such as curling, to give your hair the ultimate protection against breakage.

Do you want to know how I know?

My story is simple.

A month ago, I decided to do some highlights on my straight hair.

When I first enjoyed my new look, those golden streaks accentuated the shine in my hair and made me feel like a diva.

But as the days passed, my enthusiasm eased off a little. This happened to me a lot. Just like when I bought that dress, I shed tears in the Zara window and after a few days, it was just another dress.

Now that I have the highlights, I dream of having a surfboard-style blond. Yes, I want to add volume and movement to my highlights.

Searching for pictures on Instagram, I found images of waves.

Eureka! Here’s what I need. I will have beautiful beach waves in my highlights!

But the happiness didn’t last long.

Because visits to various stores ended up losing my happiness, and I was left like a bubble at their birthday party.

All of them absolutely refused to curl my hair.

  • Some of them looked at me in shock, as if I had offered to kill their mother-in-law.
  • The others looked at me from top to bottom and started muttering something like, “demon children.”
  • Others kindly asked me to leave the salon because they didn’t want me to end up with burning hair.

As I was about to give up on a pickup, a lighted sign across the street caught my attention.

One sign said, “now, dyed hair is curling: Olaplex.”

Can you imagine that I beat the speed record? I even thought I won the speed walk and in a millisecond I was inside the shop.

A woman came to see me in her fifties and when I told her I wanted to curl my lashes, the first thing she asked me was when I was finished dyeing .

When I told her it had been a month, she smiled from ear to ear and I immediately did the same.

And before doing permutation, she explained to me a few other things about Olaplex.

Do you want to know what they are?

Well then, my friend, don’t move, because I’ll tell you:

  • Why Olaplex allows you to perm dyed or highlighted hair
  • How to use Olaplex in your bending process
  • If you are about to give up the intention of curling your highlight-dyed hair, don’t ignore the scarf.

Why should you use Olaplex on dyed hair during curling

    repair treatment

While she prepares all the materials, the stylist explains to me everything about this miracle product.

Olaplex is a restorative treatment developed by the best scientists to improve the internal structure of the hair and prevent damage that occurs during chemical processes such as curling.

    What is mystery?

Olaplex therapy repairs and restores disulfuric bonds in the hair shaft damaged by chemicals in the dye to regain hair strength and elasticity and prevent breakage.

In addition, it also protects hair from the harmful effects of the curling solution, helping to regenerate the quality of the hair during the process. This allows you to go through a variety of chemical processes with minimal damage to the hair.

Because, be honest. After dyeing, your hair will weaken. If we add the effect of the fixed solution to this, voila!

We take damage, and take more damage. But with Olaplex, this didn’t happen.

And now, I will tell you how Olaplex works in the immobilization process.

How to use Olaplex while bending

    Olaplex is a three-step process.

Olaplex 1 and 2 have been adopted by stylists at the salon.

    And she did the following:

    • First, she washed my hair with shampoo to remove residue from other products or dirt.
    • She then took equal amounts of Olaplex 1 and a protein regenerator, mixed them in a bowl and applied them to my towel-dried hair, rubbed them with her fingers. damaged.
    • She then put me under the dryer and when my hair was completely dry, she sprayed water and started applying the sticks .
    • Then she rinsed my hair for a while to remove all the residue from the solution.
    • I dry my hair carefully and after 30 minutes I apply a neutralizing cream, to which she also added a few drops of Olaplex 2.
    • Finally, after twenty minutes, she rinsed my hair and when it was dry …

    A miracle!

You can notice my highlights a lot more thanks to fun curls that give my hair a unique movement.

I swear I wanted to run out and buy a plane ticket wherever there was a beach and take an speed surfing course.

Then she started offering me Olaplex 3.

The truth is, to be completely honest, the first thing I think is she’s trying to put her hand in my pocket.

She looked at me as if she wanted to say that she knew what I was thinking, and she told me that she was profiting from the permutation process with Olaplex 1 and 2.

I can buy Olaplex 3 or not, but if I love my new hairstyle I shouldn’t be wondering about it.

After all, won’t one more hurt?

Looking at it from that point of view, I was quickly convinced.

Imagine if I used any kind of deep moisturizing treatment and ruined my new blond curls.

No, sir! You can call me bastard, but never be stupid.

So I walked away with a bottle of Olaplex 3 under my arm, but some weird, golden sea waves in my hair.

Ten days have passed since I performed the permutation. I couldn’t be happier.

My highlights look much more eye-catching, I would say even more vivid.

And I noticed that my hair is much softer. It seems to lie that for a month I have been performing two aggressive treatments like dyeing and coloring.

If you want to dye your hair with highlights, you should use Olaplex.

Because in addition to not damaging and burning hair, you’ll notice that it’s healthier.

Did you know that Olaplex can also be used when doing permutations?

How long does it take for hair to air dry? How to speed up the process?

No hairdryer

Use a hair dryer or don’t use a hairdryer. That is the question. No, it wasn’t that I was fascinated by a sudden love of Shakespeare literature.

Just overusing a hair dryer has its consequences, but air drying takes time and patience.

Hair takes time to air dry, 2 to 3 hours. Of course there are many different factors that will make it more or less time consuming to dry.

For example, do you think thick hair takes as much drying time as thinning hair?

Of course not.

The same goes for clothing. A simple handkerchief will take much less time to dry than jeans. The less fabric quantity, the less drying time. Hair is softer, less time to dry in the air. This is a simple and direct rule.

Math doesn’t lie here.

It will also depend on the climate, although with climate change tips for us we can never count on it.

Generally in summer, hair dries much faster. And this is obvious, the air is warmer.

What other factors do you think can cause your hair to dry out for longer hours?

For example, if it is pulled up or loose. Sometimes when I get home late from college, I shower, and I lie down with my wet hair tied up .

And the next morning, my hair was still a bit wet.

Would you like to know why I find myself in such a terrible dilemma of letting my hair dry?

Because I am starting to notice that my hair is not growing and it is very brittle. I analyzed what could be causing the loss and I came to the conclusion that the hot hair from the dryer was weakening my hair.

So it breaks and it doesn’t grow.

The combination of heat combined with hair manipulation while drying was too much for my hair, while trying to achieve my goal of making it longer.

Do you want to stop drying your hair because of the terrible harmful effects of hair dryers?

Then keep Reading, because I’ll tell you:

  • 5 ways to dry hair faster
  • How to avoid frizz when drying without using a dryer
  • How to use a dryer in an emergency (without damaging your hair)

Are you prepared to discover the amazing benefits of air drying?

A for that!

5 ways to dry hair faster

Dry your hair

After shampooing, if possible, always use a quality, sulfate-free shampoo, wipe dry with a towel.

Yes I know. That’s what you always do.

But forget the rough towels that you have in the bathroom.

  • Buy microfiber towels.

What is the difference?

First, it absorbs excess water better. Second, it doesn’t break hair.

Do you have a microfiber scarf yet? Very well, it is now important that you use it correctly.

  • Place the towel on your head and press gently to absorb excess water. Repeat the operation two or three times.

Do not rub or crush the towel in your hair. Remember that wet hair is more fragile and more likely to break.

  • Once done, untangle your hair with a wide-tooth comb when possible.

Then wrap your hair with a towel like a turban, but keep your scalp from pulling and your hair not too tight.

You will feel like a rogue for at least 15 minutes.

  • Don’t have a microfiber?

Do not worry. One day I discovered a trick without looking for it. I couldn’t find my microfiber towel anywhere, so I tried with a regular tissue from the kitchen.

Can you believe the results?

I put various pieces of tissue on my hair and it absorbs all the excess moisture. Of course, after I had to take out a few pieces that were stuck in my hair. But for emergencies, it’s a good solution.

  • Once you have absorbed the excess water in your hair, apply a hair brush. Of course, that one is of good quality. Don’t take the first one you find on the shelf at the supermarket.

This helps to hydrate the hair and smooth the cuticles.

With these procedures, you should be able to dry your hair in the air for at least an hour.

Now, in addition to the time to let my hair dry in the air, I’m also worried that my hair will be frayed.

If this is the case for you, I tell you that there are ways to prevent frizz when you dry your hair without using a hairdryer.

How to prevent frizz when drying without using a hairdryer

Basically, I use this system when I wash my hair at night.

After washing my hair, I do the same procedure I described before, just leave the turban towel for at least ten minutes.

As time passed, I applied a serum to my hair and braided it in two braids. You can also make two cakes.

The next morning, I carefully removed the braid without pulling my hair. And I can assure you that it is almost completely dry and not frizzy.

Now there’s one thing.

And those are the moments when we don’t have time to dry our hair.

Whether it’s because we are rushing to an interview or a date, or even winter. And if we go out into the street with wet hair, we can get sick .

After that, we had no choice but to use a hair dryer. But there is a way to use it properly to avoid damaging the hair.

Do you want to know what it is?

How to use a hair dryer in an emergency (without damaging the hair)

  • I dry my hair with a microfiber towel and wrap it like a turban to incubate my hair for ten or fifteen minutes.
  • I always apply a set being thermal protection with silicone substrate because it prevents damage caused by heat.
  • I do not use a hair dryer on a high temperature. I dry my hair with air conditioning and use a diffuser. And always use it with a distance of twenty centimeters.
  • I never leave the hairdryer in the same place for long periods of time. I move it around so that the air is always directed towards the same places.

Ever since I started air-drying my hair, I have noticed a big change in my hair.

Remember I told you it wasn’t growing?

Over the past six months, I have seen my hair grow about 8 cm long, so I feel very happy.

Also, I don’t have weak and split ends, a logical consequence of overuse of the heat of a hair dryer.

Do you know any other tricks to make hair dry faster?

Products to protect hair from the swimming pool chlorine

wash your hair after swimming

Although many people disagree with the Oscar they have given to the movie “The Shape of Water”, but I love it.

Maybe it’s because some scenes in the movie remind me of how I feel when I practice my favorite sport: swimming.

There’s only one aspect that I get really nervous about with every dive in the pool: my hair.

Because even if you don’t believe it, chlorine has become the number one enemy to my hair.

I have been swimming for a long time. To be precise, I think I started with my first kicks in the water when I was 5 years old.

Since then, I never stopped. Because when I’m in water, I’m in my element. I can float with worries.

Here I am, standing in front of the pool, I kneel, prepare my arms and head, and the world stops until the water touches my body.

It’s as if my whole body wakes up as I dive. It doesn’t matter what style of swim the coach wants me to do. I’m an aerodynamic and vigorous person, completely ready to do the best crawl of my life.

But my hair comes at a hefty price for the swimming medals I have accumulated in my room.

My coach doesn’t understand anything about hair beauty, so I never get any advice from her on this aspect.

Until one day in the locker room, I saw how one of my teammates pulled out various hair products from her pocket.

When I asked, she looked at me as if she were looking at an alien or at the main character in “The Shape of Water”.

She couldn’t believe that after so many hours of swimming in chlorinated water, she didn’t take measures to protect her hair from its harmful effects.

And that’s where an experienced swimmer like me discovered that there are products that can protect hair from chlorine.

And also the products are produced specifically to protect hair before swimming and other products for use when out of the pool.

Do you consider yourself a mermaid’s crest like me?

Then you should put your hair on quarantine now and start using these products to protect your hair from chlorine damage.

That’s why, today I’m going to tell you:

  • 3 products are required to prevent chlorine from damaging your hair
  • The products you should use to wash your hair after swimming

3 products are required to prevent chlorine from damaging your hair

It doesn’t matter what your favorite swimming style is. Whether it’s a cow, a breast, or a butterfly, you will need to apply hair protection products to your hair before you put on a swimming cap.

It’s not a matter of declaring war on chlorine, since it’s something that gets rid of all the bacteria that can cause serious infections in people who spend too much time in water like us.

However, its damage to hair is terrible, even if you use a swimming cap.

This is because chlorine will remove the hair’s natural oils, dehydrating the hair. And hair is dehydrated , prone to breaking and brittle. And don’t even start with split ends, which is practically insurmountable.

Do you have blond hair and notice that your hair turns blue after swimming for a long time?

The green color comes from rusted heavy metals, mainly copper, that are introduced into cracks in the hair cuticles. When the hair cuticle is damaged, heavy metals will find many places to enter, discoloring the hair.

Is that the solution?

Yes, this shampoo is specially formulated for swimmers.

Do you want to know what they are? I will let you know when I finish talking about what  b est to protect your hair before I start swimming.

Hair Essence

Use it before swimming

This product is always in my swimming bag.

Before going into the pool, I wet my hair with tap water and apply a few drops of this oil to my hair, distributing it smoothly from the roots to the ends.

Why do I get my hair wet with tap water?

Because when my hair is saturated, very little chlorine can get into the stalk. Imagine for a moment that the hair cuticle acts like a sponge. If they are filled with clean water, the water from the pool will be harder to penetrate and cause more harm.

This product acts as a barrier, preventing chlorine from getting into the hair cuticles, so my hair is not damaged by chemicals.

Since I started using it, I’ve noticed that aside from my more glossy hair, the frizz has decreased significantly .

Have you noticed that after washing your hair, it feels as rough and dry as straw?

I got rid of that feeling forever thanks to this oil, because when I take off my swimming cap, my hair feels soft, even though I’ve been training for two hours.

If you want to protect your hair, use a good quality swim cap

to protect dyed hair

Speaking of swimming caps, all my years as a swimmer, I’ve used dozens of brands.

But since I started taking care of the health of my hair, this swimming cap has been essential to me.

Since before I put on the swimming cap I applied the oil that I recommended before, using this hat was a pleasure.

The hat can slide easily in my hair, completely covering each part of hair.

It is still in a good position, allowing me to perfectly practice all styles of swimming with total freedom.

Do you have oily hair?

The same goes for my teammates.

That’s why, instead of using the product I introduced before, which is ideal for dry and normal hair, she uses a conditioner.

Swimmer’s conditioner has greasy hair

Moisturizing oily hair

This product has the advantage of moisturizing hair without leaving an oily residue and acting as a great barrier against active chlorine.

My teammates, like me, wet my hair and distribute the balm from the middle to the ends.

Since finding this product, because other people have too greasy hair, her hair has a natural moisture and when dried, it won’t become sticky.

Now, what should you do immediately with your hair when you step out of the pool and into the changing room?

You should wash it off immediately!

With what product?

With what I will tell you here.

Use any product to wash hair after swimming

chlorinated hair

Both my friend and I both use a shampoo is designed specifically for swimmers.

The truth is I have tried other shampoos but this never failed. And if that’s not enough, you can also buy conditioner.

The shampoo completely removes chlorine residue, while the conditioner keeps my hair soft and freshly hydrated.

Also, it’s fairly cheap and the bottles are small enough to easily store in your swimming bag or backpack.

In my friend’s case, she’s blond, thanks to this product, she gets rid of the blue color from her hair every time she gets out of the pool.

After swimming

Thanks to these products, I can now completely learn how to swim without worrying about hair damage.

I engulf myself, I rush in, and I simply indulge in the feeling of flying into space.

No worries, no limits. For now, I know how to take care of my hair to prevent chlorine from spoiling.

Are you a swimmer? How do you protect your hair from chlorine damage?
